Viktor Humeniuk was apprehended by the Russian military in his home on July 25, 2022, amid the occupation of Kherson city.
Following several days of uncertainty, his family discovered that Viktor had been taken to a location described as a “torture chamber”, where he endured a 15-day detention. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Kherson pretrial detention center, where he remained for over three months.
On November 5, 2022, Viktor was once again relocated to an undisclosed destination.
As of June 16, 2023, reports from former detainees indicate that Viktor was likely held in pretrial detention center number 1 in Simferopol before being transferred to pretrial detention center number 2.
Presently, Viktor’s health is in critical condition. He suffers from a group 2 disability, heart disease, cardiac angina, kidney disease, and multiple hernias, necessitating urgent surgical intervention.
