On March 1, 2022, Serhii participated in a protest against the occupation authorities, documenting the event with a video posted on Instagram. Subsequently, his footage was broadcasted on a French TV channel. 

On April 28, 2022, 32-year-old Serhii Stroyev was forcibly abducted by Russian troops. Masked assailants armed with machine guns seized him as he was leaving his home, inflicting injuries to his arms and conducting a search of his residence. Following this, Serhii was forcibly taken away, forced into a vehicle marked with the letter “Z”, and transported to an undisclosed location.

According to reports from local residents, the Russian military targeted individuals expressing pro-Ukrainian sentiments, subjecting some to torture in underground facilities.

Since April 28, 2022, there has been no information regarding Serhii’s whereabouts.
