On March 22, 2022, Lyudmyla Shevchenko, wife of Ihor Steblevskyi, sustained serious leg injuries in a mortar attack by occupiers. She was promptly transported to a field hospital by the Russians, accompanied by Ihor. However, during transit, Ihor was detained at one of the checkpoints and sent to a “filtration camp”. Tragically, Lyudmyla’s body was discovered 10 kilometers away from their home. She was laid to rest on November 30, 2022.

According to testimonies from other liberated prisoners from Kyiv, Ihor Steblevskyi endured imprisonment and torture at pretrial detention center number 2 in Novozybkiv, Bryansk Oblast, Russia. However, his current whereabouts remain unknown.
